Aleppo soap as a shaving soap

Has anyone got any experience of this? I bought a block of Aleppo soap on a whim this week, it's nice to wash with, not very foamy but certainly cleansing and moisturising. On good old Wikipedia it says it can be used as a shaving soap but I'm not sure it'd be good for DE, probably closer to using a shaving oil than a soap. Anyone tried?

I wouldn't risk it. Nothing scientific about my reasoning other than it doesn't feel like it would protect very much.

A previous thread detailing aleppo started by bechet a few months ago may answer your question but I agree with NTS, in that it probably doesn't have the necessary protection, I'm getting my closest shave using a face scrub before hand

I found I was getting better shaves (using shaving soaps) after having showered using Aleppo soap - but who can tell whether this was fact or imagination?

I wash my face with it before shaving, then I splash my face with water not fully rinsing off the soap and then lather over the top of it. I find it gives a very close and comfortable shave.
