Advice on ingrowns

Recently I seem to be getting some closer shaves. This might not necessarily be better, as I also seem to be having a few ( what I would call severe) ingrowns. I wont go into specific details but some of these have been painful and unsightly!! Nuff said about that - you get the idea.

I generally go for 2-3 passes, WTG, XTG and ATG. I would have thought that the best way to avoid them is to cut out the ATG pass, and this is what I intend to do in future shaves.

Can anyone offer any other advice to minimise these little buggers

Cheers

Helps if I use the search function.. DOH

Some good advice in that thread so Admins can delete this tread if required.

hmm...how many shaves do you get from your blades?..try after 2-3 uses with a new blade..OR wait a few extra days than you are used to..I have been doing that and much less irritation

Good Luck!

trying not to go fully atg now and its working well. Also binning blades after 3-4 shaves. I think the ATG pass for me was leading to ingrowns.

I usually get this with ATG, along with EXTREME soreness and inevitable weepers if shaving my neck like this.

I'm one of those unlucky individuals,my beard grows across my neck, not up or down which means shaving across and that's pretty difficult but it did get rid of those ingrowns

ATG on the neck is a total no-no for me. Resigned to having some stubble on my neck permanently. Better than those horrible, unsightly pustules mind you!

What a lovely image that conjures up, couldn't agree more though. Luckily I can do a ATG pass on my neck and not have any issues, my cheeks though are a bit more sensitive so tend to only ever go ATG for one shave (usually at the weekend) and then just across the grain most other shaves.

I've tried all of these methods, toothbrush irritated the ingrowns even more(ingrowns go bigger and turn red),asprin dries the skin out if you don't use moisturiser afterwards :(
