Abbreviations etc..

I wonder if one of the more experienced Forum members could do me a small favour when time allows it! As I read through the various postings, I come up against abbreviations that I struggle greatly to understand. An example of one I do understand is: BBS (baby bum smooth)-I think! but there are quite a few others that I don't understand at all. Can one of you guys come up with a short Glossary at some time? I think that other newbys like myself would greatly appreciate it if something like this could be organised. Hope I'm not being a nuisance here but I really feel as if I am missing out sometimes, especially when the situation crops up in the middle of a particularly interesting post!

All the best, spandexcodpiece. :? :)

THIS TYPE OF POSTING IS RIDICULOUS! ITS JUST UNFAIR TO EXPECT OTHERS TO READ A POSTING WITH A COMPLETE DISREGARD TO UNDERLINING PROTOCOL. ITS THIS TYPE OF POSTING THAT DRIVES PEOPLE NUTS!!!!!

I came across a wonderful website once. I didn't last long there before I innocently caused offence for which I received a life sentence.

They used a lot of abbreviations:

<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://wiki.badgerandblade.com/index.php/Abbreviations" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://wiki.badgerandblade.com/index.php/Abbreviations</a><!-- m -->

Mods or someone may wish to replace with TSR version if they think it is worth the effort.

There are only a few in circulation...

BBS...as described above.

WTG, XTG and ATG...that is With, Across and Against the grain when describing the direction of the beard.

Otherwise we speaks the proper Queens English.

Maybe we should have a more UK centric version of DFS? How about ARS?...just fill in the blanks.

Hi Fido!

..Thanks a lot for the info'. Had a look at that list over on B&B, and it helped eg. I now know what one of the forum members was on about with his use of: ymmv(Apparently it means: "you may have different results").

..spandex..

When I was posting over there, I used to sign off with YMMV and IMO (In my opinion).

To deter those much more experienced and much more clevererer than me who would be only to happy to correct my 'noobishness' and in doing so reinforce their own clevererness.

But hey, YMMV :D

BBS = Baw Bag Smooth

Thankfully we tend to write in longhand here, abbreviations are few and far between. Some of our esteemed members can become quite antsy is you call it a puck of soap and use terms like YMMV, it is always a cake of soap and prefer you to form an opinion of your own

Honestly don't worry about it mate, if someone says something you don't understand just ask.
