2010 New Merkur offerings

Noticed this over on B&B, Merkur have a couple of new razors coming out. There appears to be four new razors amongst which is a a stainless steel handle one with a chrome plated zinc head which is kind of failboat for me, either make it all SS or not. More interestingly there is a new red and black bakelite model which looks nice.

I guess price will dictate whether they fly or not but here is a link to their PDF for those interested. I think the SS one must be their response to the Feather SS but it is great that someone is making new models at all.

I'll start getting suspicious when they bring out some new models which wont accept the usual DE blades. Don't want to see a major manufacturer following the Gillette model of constant updating every few months to serve the commercial interest.

Here are the RRP prices in euros for those interested in the new DE's. The Bakelite Merkur 45 has certainly caught my interest above all the new offerings..

Thanks for the update, nice to put a price to them. I agree with you that the Baklelite one was the one that I thought stood out, if it is roughly €22 then I would buy it.
 
Those Bakelite ones look VERY much like WWII German Army issue ones that crop up on ebay from time to time.
 
the swastikas are a bit of a give away

I use one on my Aryan Strikeforce ("Defending The Purity Of The White Race!") days* with Tabac (German since 1936).



* Every other Tuesday unless it's raining - I'm not a hardcore fanatic more of a fair weather fascist. Trouble is I'm love with a Jewish guy. ;)
