This is good advice. The drying bit is also key for de-funking it - give it 48 hours between uses/washes.Lather it and leave it lathered overnight.
What did you wash it with ?Got myself a EJ best badger brush.
I knew it may smell a bit initially, so washed and dried it twice.
Shaved with tonight and my goodness, it stank to high heaven, wet dog meets road kill.
I shall wash and dry another 2 or 3 time and hope it loses the pong....
Hope it wasn’t Rohypnol he might wake up feeling a bit funnyThe stench must have knocked him out! Hope he's ok.

Badger, boar, and horse, can reek no matter where they're from, but it does go away with a few uses, I almost threw a soap away one time because I thought it had gone rancid, then I remembered it was a new boar knot.I have found the EJ badger knots to have a strong wet dog smell for the first few uses but normally fades after that.
Some kind soul sent me some "free" Arko soaps with a razor purchase on eBay.Badger, boar, and horse, can reek no matter where they're from, but it does go away with a few uses, I almost threw a soap away one time because I thought it had gone rancid, then I remembered it was a new boar knot.
