Pre-shave:- Warm rinse / Proraso Red pre shave cream
Brush:- Executive Shaving Company Medium Jock Synthetic
Soap/Cream:- TOBS Eton College cream
Razor/Blade:- Rockwell 6c Plate R3/ Gillette 7 o'clock Green Super Stainless (1)
Post-shave:- Thayers Cucumber / Xtro Mare aftershave / Bart's Balm Cinnamon and Patchouli balm
A return to my trusty DE razor tonight - Rockwell's 6c. Out of my limited experience with DE razors this is head and shoulders above my 34c, Wilkinson Sword Classic, Gillette Tech and Fatboy. Although the jury is still out, I think RazoRock's Hawk V2 SE just beats it thought....just.
I was having a trouble free shave this evening but managed to catch just below my lip during my XTG pass. One of those ones that as soon as it catches you go “Ya f****r!†As soon as I moved closer to the mirror for a look the claret flowed.
I continued and finished off, needing to call in my styptic pencil. A rather alarming tinge as the bleeding eventually stopped.
Finishing off with Xtro Mare aftershave gave another kick however not an eye watering sting.
Calming things down at the end was Bart's Balm.
A BBS finish, which was let down by my drop in concentration when I caught my chin. I'm sure it's due to 2 weeks of SE shaving. SE definitely seems easier and gets just as good, if not better, overall result.
Today's lesson - when using DEs, you can't be as lazy as when using SE.
However, a mention has to go out to TOBS Eton College cream. I won this recently in a raffle and was unsure when it arrived - it was really watery..as in I could easily pour out the contents. I'm unsure if it's got wet, has melted (?) or somehow has just broken down. I'm leaving it in the fridge for a few days to see if that helps. However it performed well this evening and I do like the traditional scent.
Anyhows, here's to a good week ahead folks! [emoji1303]
