A shave with the theme being 'The shitting show'
1924. Not the most eventful of years, but a few notable happenings included:
The first ever broadcasting of the Shipping forecast. And still as important today to us old sea dogs as ever. More commonly known to us mariners as 'The shitting show'
John Logie Baird sends rude moving pictures over a short distance. Later to become YouPorn. Oooops. Rudimentary pictures.
Ever Ready still moving away from batteries add a 12 to their original razor and invent the 1924. Later in the 2000's someone converts them to fit a standard modern handle as no one in 1924 had ever heard of metric with Britain remaining imperialistic and swamping the world with obscure thread sizes.
Razor - Ever Ready 1924 on a stainless Mongoose handle
Blade - The one ad only Gem
Brush - Yaqi Dandelion
Soap - Czech and Speake 88
Aftershave balm - Brimble and Hawkins
A first time out for the very kindly donated 1924 complete with a conversion on the thread to take a modern handle. In this case the very beautiful stainless Mongoose. Much like the 1912 it again looks like an agricultural implement for garden gnomes. Physically not that dismilar to each other but I do think the 12 appears to have more blade exposure. To this effect I found the 1912 to have a more efficient stance. Then again the 24 I am finding is a little more fussy over the angle and I don't think I have found its optimum so far.
In context though a smashing shave was had even if I didn't quite think it delivered the same final finish as the 1912. But it still needs time to get to know it better.
Gem? It is. What else is there?
And what do you know about razors?
Not super smooth then but well worthy of an early Christmas present
