Well.....I said I was going to give it a few days before my next shave..... who was I trying to kid!!
The Schick Adjustable Injector razor pass around arrived today. Now I know I'm nowhere near ready to try and review different razors but I'm wanting to try and just see how I get on......plus James Bond uses this razor, how could I resist!
Cleaning and changing the blade was a breeze, which I understand could be off putting to new people looking at pictures of this razor. But seriously, it couldn't be simpler.
I prepared as normal and used my favourite Alvarez Gomez Barberia cream. Still absolutely brilliant with a citrusy scent.
Looking at various threads on the razor there's no real favoured position to dial in, pretty much YMMV. I dialled in setting 4 and let the game begin.
Placing the flat head against my skin I lowered the razor until I felt the blade. Then away I went, concentrating 100% to keep the same angle.
The blade was smooth and I could feel each stroke working on the stubble. It certainly wasn't as smooth and comfortable as my regular shaves, whether this is my technique (probably), a too aggressive setting (position 4) or a bad blade, or a combination of these, I'm not sure. The blade box certainly looked the older of the 2 boxes that came with the razor, with the other box being brand new Schick blades.
After the 1st pass there really wasn't a noticeable difference on my face. A slight difference, but not much.
The 2nd pass XTG was better. I think I was getting a better angle at this stage. A noticeable difference but still a lot of stubble left.
The 3rd pass ATG, and the blade just seemed to change. Things were a lot rougher however more stubble was coming off. I persevered and finished off.
After a rinse there were some good smooth areas but the majority was still a bit rough. A lot better than what I started with, but not a good as what I normally get. Acceptable. Just.
Not wanting to make my face like a Belisha beacon, I decided it was good enough and finished up.
A reasonable shave but “can do better†as my old school report cards used to say!
I'll see how my skin feels tomorrow and will try the razor again with one of the newer looking blades, just in case.
Have a great night folks! [emoji482]
