I confess at getting a tad worried about recent developments in Sapone land: the demise of Vitos Red: no more tallow in Haslinger, and so on. I hope there isn't too much more fannying around. Don't get me wrong, I do like and respect many non-tallow soaps; but I wouldn't like our choices to be increasingly limited.
Mmm otter tallow P.What you said mate - does anybody know why this is the case? Is it that tallow has been appropriated by another industrial process that can pay higher prices than soap makers for it - or are the compliance rules for using fat of an animal origin becoming uneconomic? Have the companies done their market research and decided that people want vegetarian soaps? If the latter was the case - why would Salters have reintroduced a tallow soap into the market recently? In American artisan soaps - there seems to be no end of tallow used - be that cow, sheep, pig, bison, duck, otter and marmoset - okay I just made the last two up. You take my point though. Like you I enjoy a choice in my soaps - I have some very good vegetarian soaps but I would miss the tallow ones dearly. Perhaps a couple of experts here could shed some light on it? Yours - I.

Quite. It starts to sound like those periodic reviews of fragrances; where elements like oak moss get dropped and other fiddling. It might be imaginary, but I feel that tallowate soaps give me better shaves when using more assertive razors; the Feather AC, for instance. What you said mate - does anybody know why this is the case? Razor: Rex Ambassador (on loan)
Blade: Gillette Platinum
Brush: Simpsons Manchurian Captain
Soap & Aftershave: Saponificio Varesino Manna di Sicilian
Second outing of the Rex Ambassador on loan from @Acer89
A very similar shave to the first. I tried changing the angle and adjusting the pressure but there was still some drag.
Although I don't think it's a heavy razor, it shaves like it's much heavier. Had to explain but there it is. Maybe the drag?
The end results were still very good. After three passes I did need some touch-ups on my neck but this was due to having it on setting on 2 on the third pass.
Cheers
