Hey there!
Been DE/SE shaving for about 9 years now and I'd say I have my technique pretty much down now and don't have a bloodbath unless I do anything silly like use Feather blades or go for 9 passes after a quadruple espresso or something like that! But every so often I grow a beard (this time at my 5 year old daughter's request as she said she misses it). I get stubble pretty much all over, to the extent that if I leave a bear untamed it's near enough a balaclava so I need to shave around it to get a more 'normal' shape, on cheeks and lower neck (as it otherwise merges with chest hair!).
Seeing where I'm going with my usual soap is tricky so I have been trying to use oil (I only had a supermarket brand one) but even using a quality soap and being careful I seem to end up with a lot of cuts, mainly on my neck but also sometimes on cheeks.
I assume it's as I'd normally shave my neck after doing below sideburns etc so stubble has time to soften etc but it is a bit ridiculous. Can anyone share tips or a recommendation for a good oil that provide a bit more protection? Or maybe a pre-shave, something like that?
