Greetings Shaving experts,
In my brief forays onto the boards here, I have heard various opinions on shaving soap to the effect that tallow (AKA dripping) is necessary and that olive oil is always bad. I have just made some of my 'Warm Spice' shaving soap, and a few of my 3" round bars are imperfect.....mixture was too thick when poured so has left holes and hollows in the top few bars. So I thought it might be mutually beneficial if I offered 4 as free samples just for the price of P & P (£1.50). They wont be ready to use until a few weeks time, and as I go away at the end of the week for 2 1/2 weeks, I would plan to post them late Sept/ early Oct. This way you get free soap, and I can find out if the size fits into any common bowls if the winners have one, and can get your feedback on what you think of it - it's an unusual colour and scent. Here is a link to a picture of a few bars which I hope will work (the link that is, not the soap! <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://i383.photobucket.com/albums/oo275/peakseeker/DSCN2648.jpg">http://i383.photobucket.com/albums/oo27 ... They will weigh about 90 - 100g when cured.
Ingredients: Olive oil, water, sodium hydroxide, shea butter, palm oil, castor oil. Essential oils of lavender, nutmeg, lemongrass, cedarwood, cardamom, cinnamon leaf, fennel, ginger and peppermint. Bentonite clay, red clay, silk.
The first 4 people to PM me will get a sample bar in early October.
I also do these in 200g size in stainless steel bowls, and ditto a yellow cedarwood scented one, and also a vegan (no silk) very lightly scented eucalyptus one. If I don't get a chance to post details of those before I go, will do so on my return.
