One of the reasons that crowns, which were the largest "silver" coin, fell out of general use and were then minted as commemorative coins, was the weight and size, and I expect the economics of producing such a hefty but low value coin for general circulation didn't add up. Of all the more recent commemorative crowns, many of which are for Royal anniversaries and so on, I think the Churchill is the most attractive.Thank you, not as much as I had thought for chunky coin like that, modern coinage is so lightweight in comparison.

The half-crown was an impressive coin, compared to the "shrapnel" of today.
