Adjustable Razors

How do you use yours ?
i know some people adjust them as they go
using a different setting for each pass

some start up and go down the way & some go down and go up the way

i tend to pick a setting and just stick with it for the duration of the shave.
so i don’t know if i’m actually utilising the razor properly.
i’m interested in how you guys use yours

I usually shave with them at setting 3 or 4 however the Rex and the Progress not having fixed adjustments I tend to tweak a little during my shave.

I have a karve stainless razor with five different plates so it could be called an adjustable because I have a choice of setting depending on the plate I use.
I can have an ultra mild shave or a more assertive shave and anywhere in-between.
I stick to one plate for a shave although it's possible to change out the plate for the last pass but I think that would be a complete faf!

I tend stick with the same settings depending on how long my stubble is. However I occasionally adapt the initial pass if it’s particularly long in growth or increase it for the last pass or for the pick ups chasing a BBS, (which I know I shouldn’t but sometimes you can’t help yourself!)

For the Rex I have found for me works really well so far
1st pass setting 4
2nd pass setting 3
3rd pass setting 2

When I first got my slim I used every setting from two up to nine going up one on every shave then started going back down again untill I found the sweet spot. For me it is four or five.

I have very sensitive skin that can get red pretty easy so I've been surprised to be using 6 at all. I've enjoyed the razor a lot so far.

I regularly now use a Rockwell 6S and go 3 - 2 - 1. I know some think that changing the plate is is bit of a scutter but I can do it quickly without really thinking about it. I also sometimes use a Parker Variant and go 2 - 1&1/2 - 1 but much easier to adjust of course. Fav at the moment though is the Rockwell.

I use the adjustability setting to make the razor work for me so always once found that setting I kept it as that for that razor. Reading here I can see the majority dial different levels for different passes. Never tried that. Don't currently have an adjustable but when the Fatboy returns from its spa treatment I'll give that a go.

I have the Rockwell 6s and find the plates very easy to change, normal sequence is 4.3.2 but all subject to my mood..

I do love an adjustable and have far to many. I like to start high and work my way down through the passes. It definitely helps with my sensitive skin.
