What made your day a good one

I've been lucky in employed life to have mostly worked on a Monday to Friday basis, Carl. I've never been averse to working whenever I had to ...... But I do like my hours as they currently are.

This week, while not a particularly testing one, has bored me to tears regardless of how busy I am; so it's somewhat of a relief that the sun is blazing (albeit a little chilly outside), everybody in the office seems to have 'that Friday feeling', meaning we'll end the week in an upbeat fashion and I'm looking forward to getting a few more interesting things done over the weekend that I hadn't the time for midweek.

32 years of shifts spoilt me for conventional 5 or 6 day working weeks. Loved being able to get to the gymn or out and about when it wasn't so crowded.

I usually squeeze my hours in Mon - Thurs and get Fridays off these days. Four long days on, three days off feels about right whereas five days on, two off is definitely NOT enough time off!

What a day !

Started off with the news that an old work colleague passed away. Someone who was at one time my manager, a lovely person who was always great to work with and enjoyed a joke. Have to admit it bought a tear to my eye.

Went to work and the boss came in for a staff meeting. I was taken to onside and she told me how impressed she was with me. It's a new job and fair to say I had a bumpy start. I've never worked in mental health before. She said that she was pleased with the way the clients have taken to me. Some have real mental health issues and it's sometimes hard for them to "like" you.

I then had a couple of hours with a client, real big bugger built like a 6x6 brick sh!t house. Very hard to engage in any activity, in fact I believe I am the first to actual get him doing anything with. He's interested in bushcraft so who better than little old me a scout leader to show him some knots and make paracord survival bracelets. He loved it ! Of course now everyone wants a go.

So from a sad start a good end, time for a beer and raise a glass to my old friend and colleague, may she rest in peace.

Oh and a new watch on the way, just ordered a TWSTEEL C12

Good to read of the positive things in members' lives as they cheer me up no end.

Today, my wee girl got an excellent school report and I'm very proud of her. Nearly finished Primary 3 - where's all the time gone?

Well, today I stripped (really, I stripped) a friends PC to remove tobacco stained dust and confirm with trusty multimeter that the PSU no longer supplies... And found a replacement for pittance (which is good because she's broke), took my neighbour to hospital and back via, Oh treat of treats, Lidl - completely made her day despite not wanting any of the books I'd borrowed from a local charity shop and managed a 70 minute conversation with my mum without too much political discussion (we are, shall we say, diametrically opposed) and set a date to go back home for a couple of weeks. A good day.
