January 2021 Acquisitions

Enabled by @karlc , I ended up with these TDS soaps from Belarus. All 5 delivered for £26. Slight problem - I can't read Cyrillic and I've no idea what is what. They'll be referred to as Tree, Leaf, Purple, Red and Blue from this point forwards.

@Boycie83 My very basic cyrillic knowledge gives the following. You have clockwise from top left (rough translation) 1) Vetiver, 2) labelled as "mischief" for some reason! 3) Pine 4) Sandalwood and 5) Menthol.

Hope that matches with what you're getting smell wise?

Thanks Jester. Someone familiar with Cyrillic has kindly done the legwork for me. Following your Clockwise logic:

1) Patchouli and Vetiver 2) Juniper (wasn't keen on this one - now rehomed with @merchant_seaman ) 3) Lavender and Musk 4) Sandalwood 5) Menthol

I'm looking forward to trying these.

What is the consistency like of those? Croaps or hard soaps?

I'll take that, as I haven't used my Russian since I studied it for one year back in the early nineties :giggle:

Just finished using both the cream and the splash. The cream has a strong citrus (lime/lemon) scent. The cologne is reminiscent of Proraso Green only with a more pronounced citrus note. Very fresh. I ordered both at 3 am Monday morning and received both today.

Thanks for the info.

It sounds like it could be up my alley.

Not entirely sure but I seem to gain a lot of pleasure from 'functional' European shaving creams, like the Italian Palmolive Menthol and from Hungary Barbon splash and cream, hopefully the Lider ones can fulfil those particular criteria.

Yaqi Katana DLC finally made it through Customs ... also, bottle of LEA aftershave and a Semogue SOC Butterscotch from Connaughts. Very quick delivery there, as I only put the order in yesterday! Flummoxed by that one!

On those grounds, I received my Yaqi Katana today, which I placed an order in their 11/11 sales.

Slowest delivery ever!

I ordered my second head (DLC coated) then as well. I have made two further orders on AliExpress since placing that order and I received both in the meantime. Indeed, slow. From what I can see on the tracking though, it arrived in the UK shortly after the 1st and has only just (14th) been placed into the hands of the final courier (14th? It's now the 20th). So, almost three months to arrive. My first Yaqi Katana shot through in about 2 weeks!

Luck of the draw, I guess.

Now, fingers crossed on that stash of blades coming from Sweden. That package left Germany ominously on the 31st December and has not been heard of since!

Enjoy, though ... it's a cracking razor!
