Why do you add "Rhodium" to the Aristocrat and then not list the plating on the others? Rhodium is snooty enough that it's a bragging point? A nd if so, why?
Ouch! I've not been able to date the Aristocrat like I have the others. I'm hoping the plating helps identify either a year or decade. I think it's a #16. Normally you'd come along and help with that - yet you have arrived with a carnival of slander and sullied my reputable name!!!

With 120+ ASR 70+ Gillette and 60+ Other it would take me a day to assemble the lot from display and the loft ... and even then I'd miss something.

My favourite restoration is probably this very early Wilkinon Sword, which can happily take a GEM blade:

Ouch! I've not been able to date the Aristocrat like I have the others. I'm hoping the plating helps identify either a year or decade. I think it's a #16. Normally you'd come along and help with that - yet you have arrived with a carnival of slander and sullied my reputable name!!!

I could be wrong & @TobyC will know best but i think the 1958 TV specials are Rhodium which might give you an idea of date having said that i could be talking :poop:

@Mike Smart you got some collection mate, I bet that fasan collection you got must've cost the most on this thread

Where did you manage to find these?

Are they all aggressive?
Not to much of you look in the right places & the right times.

No i don’t think they are aggressive at all but others might differ.

Fantastic collection, but if I don't see a Tech in the next three weeks it will be standing in the corner for you. :ROFLMAO:(y)
I take it you like as new razors with box and papers. I'm quite happy with full non chipped plating no box, no dings razors because I know I am just going to use and abuse them. After I buy a razor it has no cash value to me, as in it is cash spent and I will not get it back but I still value them as razors. (y)

Likewise my vintage razors aren't in the best of condition, the boxes are long gone but they are great for use. I'll never tire of seeing Mike pick up those beautiful razors complete in their boxes.

The vintage razors I have are all 3 piece razors aside from the last which is the sole TTO

Souplex Bakelite
Made in England Gillette Old Type Clone
Gillette Pre War Fat Handle Tech
Gillette Flat Bottom New OC (Head only)
Gillette Flat Bottom Tech (Head only)
Gillette Post War Ball End Tech
Gillette Rocket HD

I've also listed my razors mild to slightly more efficient. If I use a blade which is on the sharper side of things (eg Gillette 7 Black) I will start the blade off in my mildest razor (the Souplex Bakelite) and shift the blade up the rank with additional razors of efficiency, I find I get gloriously smooth shaves that way.
These razors aren't my collectors items but my 95% rotation of razors I will use as I know exactly how efficient they are and will choose the right razor for the right blade. Aside from the above, if I have a middle of the road blade I'll pair it with the Fat Handle Tech, if I have a blade which is on the smoother side of things it will be used with the Ball End Tech or Rocket.
The two razors I use the most are the Fat Handle and Ball End.
The two razors I listed as heads only were generous gifts from Paul. Both heads had their nickel plating removed back to their original brass, not perfect for the collector but they have a beautiful patina nonetheless!
