Evening all

I've had many concurrent hobbies over the years, pc building, custom mechanical keyboard creating, all things aquatic, golf and video games but of all of them wet shaving has really managed to dig its claws in, so here I am joining a forum to chat about my financial shaving woes.

I started shaving at around 14 (oh yes, we're going back that far, 22 years to be precise) and had lots of issues with skin irritation on my neck, I ended up using king of shaves oil (remember that stuff?) and some wilkinson sword disposable razors. I ended up giving up and growing a beard in my late teens and have pretty much had a beard ever since. I'd usually just trim my neck with clippers but that was about it.

In January 2021 I thought I'd give shaving another go and started the research methods of shaving that caused less irritation, enter de razors. I picked up a wilkinson sword de razor, soap, brush and blades and proceeded to tear my face to pieces, but honesty I was hooked.

Over the months I have picked up other razors. I have a 6c, EJ De89 (the amazon exclusive, picked up for £12 in a sale) and a merkur 37c.

The razor I reach for the most is the EJ. I keep thinking of selling others as I love it much, alas, I still have them.

I've tried a few blades now which I put into yay and nay piles

Yay- gillette nacet, wilkinson sword gillette saloon pack, gillette 7 o'clock Green, treet platinum, vokshod.

Nay - gillette silver, perma sharp, Derby, shark, astra sp, and feathers (every couple of months I try to return to feathers but no, just no! No doubt I'll keep trying and having uncomfortable shaves with these terrors)

I have many soaps and have settled on proraso white preshave for when I use a new blade.

I ended up making a tallow based shave soap with mint extract that I enjoy and have made way more than I'll ever use!

I'm a sucker for the yaqi defect handle razors on aliexpress so have a few of those.

I've settled on a 2 pass comfortable shave on my neck, with 3 passes on my cheeks.

If you've made it this far thank you so much for taking the time
