SOTD 12th June 2020

Razor - Karve #B
Blade - Feather Hi Stainless #4
Soap - La Savonniere du Moulin
Brush - Shavemac 30mm Silvertip
Post - Thayers astringent
Frag - Panama 1924 edt - Boellis

A wonderfully smooth and close shave was had using this marvel of a razor from Karve, fitted out with the "B" plate and a Feather blade it left me with perfectly smooth skin free of nicks or irritation.
A lovely thick creamy lather from the donkey milk soap was whipped up using the super soft two band silvertip from Shavemac.
To finish this perfect shave I applied one of my favourite edt's, Panama 1924 from Boellis.

Perfectly shaven and smelling wonderful in honour of my mothers 85th birthday today, such a shame I can not be in Kent to celebrate it with her but I'm sure she will have a great day regardless :)

Untill the next time.......stay safe and keep well.

Paul.

Today's shave was a change from my original planned shave due to a delivery yesterday.
I was lucky enough to pick up a B1 (i think) Schick repeating razor for less than a New Cart razor with a pack of blades. I have been after one of these types for a long time, however, they always went for what i considered big money and i lost a few because i would not spend too much. that all changed this week when i won the bidding on flea-bay.
I got it yesterday and stripped it down, cleaned it and checked all the parts, all intact including blades & the original blade blank. She does have some pitting although for a used razor at around 90 yrs old she still looks wonderful to my eye. After the clean up she was placed in a barbicide bath then rinsed and polished.
I have not looked forward to my daily shave this much for a good few months.
So today i put together a Vintage shave and had "The General" on the Subs bench "just in case".
I had a great lather, i planned it to be a bit thicker than normal for extra cushioning.
The 1st Pass WTG was more a trial and error pass and i found the shave angle pretty quickly, although the blade was cutting it was indicating it was not the sharpest i have used. No Issues and a lot of stubble removed.
2nd Pass XTG was similar, it took a few strokes to get the cutting angle right, then, again the blade indicating it was cutting, not tugging but not smooth. Again no Issues.
3rd Pass ATG, probably the easiest of the shave with the angle found straight away, The shave angle is very shallow for me just off riding the cap.
A quick rinse of and check and would say i have a DFS finish, very acceptable, you would have to be skin close to notice.
I had the lather and the General at hand so i completed a buffing pass to finish BBS.
That was a real joy.
I loaded a new Personna injector into the blade cart and loaded it into the head, this gave me much pleasure, it is sitting tight in the head without any movement, it seems as if the new blades are a touch thinner than the originals, it is now ready for another run out.
I have also fed the leather pouch and will polish it up later.
So, There it is, my 1st ever Schick repeating razor shave.
Sitting here smiling like a Cheshire cat, BBS, comfortable and smelling Pretty Damn Good.
Stay Safe and Enjoy your Day All

Fri day 12th SOTD
Cream Suezbana Aloe & Lavender
Brush Yaqi 24mm Mountain Lake Badger
Razor Fatip Grande
Blade Tatra Platinum 5th
Post & Aftershave
Ice Water + Special Thayers Cucumber
Hyaluronic Acid
Clubman GentsGin
Load directly from the tub as the cream has become semi-hard. Face lathering results in a satisfying creamy lather with ok slickness.
Shave with razor and blade pairing was surprisingly smooth & mild feel but yet still sharpish. Very comfortable 3 multiple passes with no issues of weepers, creepers nor irritations. BBS to DFS. Rating today 9.5/10
These Czech made blades are indeed a revelation! Very tempted to get by the 100...hahahaha...

Is your brush handle carbon fibre? It looks like it is from your picture?

Paul.

Sorry to read your not able to get to your Mum for her 85th Birthday.

I love the look of the flatter head brush from shavemac. Possibly more practical than a bulb shaped head as you get more brush in contact with your face. I've also got my eye open for a used Karve SS.

Pre - Shower / Face wash
Cream - TOBS Mr Taylor
Brush - New Forest Badger
Razor - MÜHLE R89
Blade - Wilkinson (3)
Post - Alum followed by Skin Food then moisturiser with SPF (over kill?)

A rather rushed shave today, still a very comfortable three pass shave. After using a synthetic brush for a few days, I'm convinced I prefer the experience of a real badger brush.

Pre: Hot Shower
Cream: Kiehls White Eagle Brushless Cream
Razors: RazoRock Hawk V1 & V2
Blades: Feather Professional (1)
Post: Cold Scottish Water Rinse
EDT: Wings For Men
Balm: Dove Post Shave Balm

A nice comparison shave between the V1 & V2 versions of the RazoRock Hawk razor. I prefer the fit and finish and balance of the V2 and the handle feels nicer to hold. I wasn't sure about using a brushless cream as I love my lathers but it really performed very well and was very easy to use and is nice and slick. No drama and a nice easy shave to set myself up for the weekend. Enjoy, whatever plans you have.

12 June 2020 – noon - a blue day today,more or less.
As reported in many other posts the Wilkinson soap provides a very good lather (once you've mastered it) without having to recharge the brush. Three passes and some tidying provides a 95% BBS - not bothered with some remaining short bristles in the neck regions. Nivea Sensitive Lotion is very nice - another nice product at a reasonable price. I think I have nearly reached the bottom of the soap tub - no idea how long I have this one already.

Prep: Shower & Nuage Shave Oil
Brush: Yaqi Rainbow 26mm
Razor: MÜHLE R89
Blade: Astra Superior Platinum
Soap: Wilkinson blue tub
After: Cold Water Splash - Ajanta Alum – Nivea Cool Sensitive LotionIMG_0124.JPG

I've been in contact with my mum and she had a lovely birthday and loving being 85 years old! She looks a lot younger and is as fit as a fiddle! :)

I love the fan shape knot on my Shavemac, certainly more badger on your face!

You could do a lot worse than a stainless Karve, it gets a big thumbs up from me! :)
