I smear a blob of Super Smooth onto the bottom of my lather bowl and use a damp brush same as any other cream.
I find Wickham's soaps have a strange duality chemistry. At first the lather explodes into very airy, foamy and voluminous lather which is unusable but after a minute it settles down and another lather is formed at the same time. The second type is slick and adhesive and easily applies to the face. In fact, it can be so thick that it kind-of clumps on the face but not quite. The lather performs well but this first airy lather still persists in the bowl. I'm not sure if one lather turns into the other or it still exists in two states.
