Turned Antler

Continuing my quest to produce something worthwhile on my lathe, this has turned out:)rolleyes:) OK.
My stock of usable antler for turning, is very limited. Hill stags in Scotland do not generally, produce heavy heads.

I sorted out a reasonably straight piece that I thought would have enough diameter to allow turning, and fit a decent size knot. Due to the pithy nature of the interior of Red deer antler, It was stabilised before starting to work it.

As it progressed, I realised that, if I turned it until all of the outer bark had gone, the handle would not work out to my liking.
The answer was to leave a little bark. I think it adds to it. Others may not agree.

Handle: Red Deer antler
Knot: 22mm Finest two band, set at 50mm.
Bling pin: Stainless and brass mosaic.
