In case you didnt know, the Shaving Room was likewise branded as "adult" by O2. I was away and got locked out by my iPhone.

Adult! Clearly they have havent seen some of the humour.

I had this problem and went mad at them.

After that, they said 2 working days to fix it but it's was done in less then 1 so happy here as I was at work when it was sorted :)

I read that as the only the iPhone app was blocked because the article refers a lot to the iPhone app specifically but you are saying browsing to the site was was also blocked using Safari. Have you tried another browser? (Atomic free version is good), it is odd but it doesn't seem as if they make money out of it.

With Orange I have no issues browsing using Safari, but do prefer Atomic. I think Apple themselves use the fact that I have a credit card listed as verification, worst I get is a pop up asking me to confirm I am over 18, so no filtering yet.

Logically it must only be blocked through the cellular data stream, if you are on wifi it is not passing through O2 (unless you have broadband from them) so filtering browsing is a very limited restriction but still a PIA.

We don't have an iPhone app.

Yes, all 3G access to the site was blocked on my iPhone, it is not an issue now because I phoned them and explained, no porn, no iPhone!

What peed me was that it was done without warning. Or common sense, actually. And I dont see it as the job of the mobile phone company to censor, unless a parent has requested their child's phone to be restricted.

Rant over.

Mine got locked out, don't own a credit card so rang O2 got told to go to a store with photo I'D, nothing could be done even though I had to prove I was over 18 when I took the contract out.

Seems to be working ok now

I agree with this and think it should apply to all phone networks. I have grandchildren who have mobile phones, and hate to think what they might be able to access. And it's not only on their phones, it's all their friends at school as well.

The sight of fresh food in these formative years could leave a permanent scar on their young minds. :D

strange..apps on my iphone only make me acknowledge and I accept the "box" that says im over 18..what store or ID did you have to prove?

It wasn't an app, Blades, it was a lock on all Internet access to sites (like this one) defined as adult by the phone company. It was imposed by the phone company and you had to pay to have them undertake an age check on you. It was brought in without prior notification on Thursday.

Hopefully, after a long phone call I believe they have removed it from my phone. Permanently I trust!
