A bit late, but last night's theme for my shave was 'Industrial Metal'
Metal Head - Razorock Hawk V2 - ATT Colossus - Kai Captain
Hair Metal - Razorock Plissoft 400 in aluminium
Air Metal - OSP Eucalyptus and Menthol
Avant Garde Metal - Kettle by Dualit
I only wish I could find a decent shaving cream in a metal tin as I hate to say but OSP you have let me down with your plastic tubs
This was the first outing for the Razorock Plissoft 400. I am by nature someone who doesn't understand the brush game seeing them more as a function than something which performs in different ways. Sometimes my nature needs a wake up call. For a long time I have been happy to use Muhle synthetics which in their own rights are great brushes and do an admirable job. In essence, they function as I'd expect a brush to do. My biggest gripe though would be the amount of 'grip' they provide. The butterscotch is a beautiful brush but trying to hold the bugger is quite a task, perhaps more so with my shovel headed hands which more by evolution have developed to grip a pint glass. Enter the Razorock. When I first saw this I thought 'wow, a brush designed for pint glass hands'. And I was correct.
The first thing I noticed when unpacking is how physically large the whole brush is in comparison to my usual choice of lather applicator. The knot by my standards is huge in all respects and the handle certainly not in the world of tiny people. More importantly for me though is how easy I find it to hold and use the brush with no slippage, the aluminium providing a very sturdy surface to grasp. The end result? An absolute lather monster. I have always thought OSP creams can be whipped in to a terrific lather, but this brush moves the game up another notch. So much so I am going to have to reduce the amount of cream I use; which of course is always a plus point for being economical.
A terrific start to last night's shave and bonus points awarded for the Razorock.
The OSP Eucalyptus and Menthol brings tears to my eyes. The scent hits with an incredible waft of menthol and offers a most wonderful shaving barrier. I find it hard to say anything negative about OSP creams........ah ah..................plastic tubs
The General is all packed away ready for the next two weeks away at work being as it is now my takeaway razor. It is perfect for those times when speed and efficiency are the order of the day. Tonight just had to be SE and so my reach for being the Hawk V2. I have mentioned this before but using the Hawk head on a decent handle certainly lifts it up the shaving scale. Blade being the Kai Captain as it simply doesn't give in and just seems to go forever and a day (and a few nights thrown in for good measure). SE blades I am finding have serious longevity compared with DE's and once they start showing their age it is quite a slow process whereas I find DE's are great one day, useless the next.
Overall I felt very refreshed and with red eyes. It is a menthol thing with me. No scent for this evening as I find it hard to match anything with the Eucalyptus and Menthol, but hey I had so much lather I simply threw it all back on my body and jumped in the shower again. Even my wife made note that I smelled like a packet of polo mints. Being as she does like polos then that was not a bad thing.
The brush gets a hearty recommendation from me and perhaps I am starting to realise what brushes are all about........brushing, only just a little different
Industrial metal? It doesn't come any better than Rammstein. An awesome live act and a great end to yesterday's evening
