14th DE shave
Prep: Warm water rinse, BBA Face Wash then BBA Shave Oil
Soap: Proraso White Sensitive
Brush: ES Medium Jock synthetic
Razor: Qshave Futur clone
Blade: Gillette 7 o'clock Super Stainless
Post: Cold rinse, Witch Hazel, LEA aftershave balm.
Another day and another selection from the Newbie Pass Around box. The only DE razor I own is a Merkur 34c so I thought I'd try one of the razors in the box. Step up the Qshave Futur clone. I had no idea about the settings so I went for the middle setting - 3. I also chose a different blade - the Gillette 7 o'clock Super Stainless as kindly recommended and provided by
@Blackmass.
Rather than the Proraso pre shave cream or Nuage oil I've used, I gave BBA shave oil a go. Not really much difference though a little goes a long way!
The Proraso sensitive shave soap was pleasant and lathered up easily. Nice and slick application.
Then onto the razor. I could feel the difference straight away with blade making a good sound as it cut through my stubble. I wasn't sure about shaving today as I had a really good shave last night but there was clearly a lot of stubble to come off.
On my neck, just under my chin, I got a reminder about pressure.....on the first pass I had quite a few weepers but nothing to cry about. Live and learn. NO PRESSURE!
The head of the razor is enormous with me pushing my nose in all direction to get right under my nostrils. But I got there eventually.
After a quick clean up and splash from a Witch Hazel bottle that was in the box, I finished with LEA balm. A nice sharp sting then soothing calm.
The shave wasn't as comfortable as I've had with my Merkur 34c, but I think this is what would be classed as a more aggressive shave. I also found that one side of the razor seemed to be different from the other. One side felt more aggressive than the other, even though I was holding the same angle.
Anyway....a nice smooth and refreshed face! Plus I'm now off until Tuesday!
Have a great night folks!
