14 November Shave

English Rocket
Lord blade, 5
Dickenson and Gilroy brush
Wickham's Dandyism hardsoap
Pashana a/s

It's been a while since i used this test soap but the scent really got me today. Classic, old school and inspired me to dig out the Pashana. What a combo! Skin feels great.

Pre: Village Barber oil
Soap: B&M Fougere Aromatique
Brush: Rubberset-400 replica with 24mm TGN synthetic
Razor: Ikon ShaveCraft 102 slant w/ SE handle
Blade: Rapira Swedish Supersteel (3)
Post: Thayer's witch hazel, followed by Fine Fresh Vetiver
A couple of 'firsts' today. New B&M soap is VERY nice. I've never used a slant razor before today. I need to work on the angles, a few near-nicks. Overall a nice 3-pass DFS.

Friday 14/11/14.
Pre - Truefitt & Hill ultimate comfort oil
Soap - HTGAM synergy 2.0 eh+
Razor - Weber PH with bulldog handle
Blade - Ladas super stainless (2)
Brush - New Forest Tubby 1
Post - cold water and a liberal splash of Myrsol Blue

As usual with a morning shave I was in a hurry. Quick shower, splash of oil and then lather the HTGAM up. I love the smell especially on a cold morning but it's so sweet it won't be to everyone's taste. The 2.0 seems to perform very well but the tin is too small and starting to rust a bit. I won't be buying another one. The Weber was excellent as usual and is edging ahead of the futur for my go to razor. Two pass DFS, a couple of little bumps which bled a little. All tidied up with cold water and the myrsol. No need for alum this morning. Got a bit of a cold so it's hard to smell the Myrsol. It's different and I like it but can't place the smell. Cools nicely and leaves my face smooth and dry. Seems to have a little bit of menthol in it.

Friday.

For some reason my shaves this week have not been great, but this one was.

Merkur 37C (Slant) Razor
Astra SP Blade
Kent Infinity Silvertev Brush
Provence Sante Verlaine Shaving Soap
Nivea Sensitive ASB

Given my self imposed and redundancy enforced purchasing embargo, I'm going through the drawers and digging out some stuff that I've not used for a while. In the case, the Provence Sante soap. Very pleasantly surprised.

Friday xiv November, 2014

Prep: Zirh Alpha-Hydroxy Face Wash
Pre: Cold Water Splash
Brush: Vie-Long 14080 Mixed Horse & Badger
Soap: Jabonman Neroli - Menta - Pomelo
Razor: ATT Atlas R2
Blade: Polsilver Super Iridium #1
Post: Myrsol Metisol, Kiehl's Men's Ultimate Moisturizing ASB

Result: Two days stubble; no problem for the ATT R2. Smooth & comfortable. Just as it should be. Quite a few components of this shave are close to completion, especially sad that the Jabonman is soon to be no more. It's a quite wonderful soap.

All the best,

Jon

Prep: Hot shower
Pre: Santa Maria Novella pre-shave
Soap: Santa Maria Novella
Bowl: Woodhead Pedestal
Brush: Omega boar 1005
Razor: ATT R2 Kronos
Blade: Zorrik SP (1)
After: Santa Maria Novella Pomegranate AS, Weleda ASB

First time I've used a Zorrik blade (traded with a fellow member of this parish, thanks) and it was ok but a bit tuggy; still did the job. I'll see how it goes over the next few days.
SMN is such a great soap; creamy with a touch of tobacco and menthol. It's a big tub and I've hardly made a dent in it so far, so I reckon it's worth every penny.

Have a great day folks,
