Lovely shave but not sure about the balm.

Gillette Sensor Excel (2)
Muhle Silvertip Fibre
Speick shaving cream
Simple Rich moisturiser
Floris Special No. 127
Penhaligon's Blenheim Bouquet

Warm water shave for a change. I definitely prefer cold!

I was up early this morning and so the Floris was imperceptible by midday. As we were going to Blenheim Palace today, it seemed appropriate to reapply fragrance with Penhaligon's Blenheim Bouquet! I'm now very tempted by DR Harris Marlborough soap!

Hot shower
Proraso pre, green
NF 1901 brush, Nanny's Cedarwood & Vetyver hard soap
ATT Atlas R1/Weber Polished, Personna Red (1)
Cold splash, alum block
Clinique post-shave healer

The warmer (?) season... so time to go break to the freshness of the proraso menthol... lovely stuff
The Atlas R1 was fine for the WTG pass, but first scrape ATG just started ploughing up my neck... so quickly changed to the Weber. Nothing shaves like my FrankenWeber (EJ top cap) and the future of the R1 is in doubt.

Apart from the small area of R1 ATG, lovely near-BBS results

Hot water wash with nanny's Yummy Plummy soap
Proraso preshave cream
TOBS Almond shave cream
Frank Silvertip brush
Polsilver blade
Gillette President
Nanny's Vanilla Post Shave Hydration
Royal Oud A/s

Shaved at 8.30am. At 2.00pm still have a BBS. What an amazing razor/blade combination!

First time out with an Ever Ready 1912. It's the one from the bathroom set and has a lightweight aluminium handle.

Proraso pre-shave
Valobra stick / Neep Cocobolo brush
1912 SE / Gem PTFE blade (3rd use)
Mr Taylor's AS
Boots no. 7 balm

Smashing shave - interesting to compare to the streamline I used yesterday. The 1912 felt a bit riskier (possibly owing to the lack of weight) but possibly gave a closer shave (hard to split them though).

Anyway, very pleased to have 3 such different but equally excellent SE razors!

The only things that were a bit below par were the Valobra, which is OK but I don't find gives a particularly auspicious lather and the brush. It was a present from my wife last year and so means a lot, but she saved money on the knot in order to get a great handle and it's floppier than I like.

Haven't used Speick in a while too, forgot just how good it was.
You're joking, aren't you? It's all you ever talk about! B-)

Proraso (old green soap)
Henk walnut silvertip
Schick M injector with Trac II (must be fifth or sixth shave)
4711 a/s

Lovely. Really worked up a lather with the Proraso as the cooling sensation was very nice today. Still getting a very smooth finish with this razor and blade combo. Not quite BBS but very near and no irritation. Would love to find more of these at a sensible price.

Product of the week (Proraso) shave 1

Confiança Redondo pre-shave soap
Hot flannel prep with Proraso eucalyptus and menthol pre/post
New Forest 2213 silvertip
Proraso eucalyptus and menthol cream, bowl-lathered
Gillette Rocket HD
Personna Lab Blue (3)
Prof. Blighty Blue Ginger AS
Trumpers Spanish Leather cologne

3 passes plus touch-ups - near-BBS result.

For the first of my Proraso week shaves, I decided to use my preferred tube cream approach - lathering in my Steve Woodhead lather bowl and then transferring the lather to my face. I swirl the lather for the first pass to lift the hair and exfoliate, then paint to even-out. For subsequent passes I paint the lather on.

As I've come to expect from Proraso green, it lathered easily (which many highly-rated products struggle to manage in my very hard water), and gave me a close, comfortable, refreshing shave, with excellent post-shave care. I tend not to use Proraso, other than the pre/post, in winter, but, on a warm May afternoon it was most pleasurable, except for one weeper on my chin which was the result of slight carelessness when going ATG.

Sunday afternoon.

DFS after 2 passes (WTG, XTG). Weeper on my adam's apple reminded me I might not be on top of my game today, so quit while I was ahead. Have a week's worth of lather left now :D
