SOTD Sat 1.12.12 to Fri 7.12.12

Sunday:

LEA Menthol cream
Semogue OC Boar
Slim Adjustable
7 o'clock SharpEdge
Witch Hazel
Proraso AS

Very nice shave. Minty fresh!

Proraso Pre/Post (Original formula)
Feather AS-D1
Personna Lab Blue
Morris & Forndran stubby 2XL
Nanny's Gentleman's shaving soap - French Lavender
Witch Hazel

Not used the Feather for a while again and I've never used a lab blue in it so it took a while to reacquaint myself with the hardware, but we got there eventually. I really need to use the Feather more to keep my hand in as its much more fickle than my other DEs

Prep: Hot Shower
Face Wash: Nivea Deep Cleaning
Razor: Aristocrat No.21
Blade: Gillette Bleue Extra (1)
Brush: EJ Super Badger
Soap: Kent (MWF)
Aftershave: Prof. Blighty Grapewood

I received these blades from Father Ted the other week via a trade. I'm very impressed with how they performed, although next time I may try without the MWF as it can make a BBS out of most blades first time around IMHO.

Neal's Yard Remedies/D.R. Harris Marlborough
Merkur 43C

Thayer's Witch Hazel Lemon
Woods of Windsor ASB

The Neal's Yard soap is not very good - I have tested it with several brushes, boar and badger, the lather is very weak, and with a strong tendency to disappear... :(
I had to use the always trustful D. R. Harris to finish the shave

Today's shave

Hot bath
Gillette fatboy set on no3 and then no4 for the final pass
Feather blade
Kent BK4 brush
Talors Sandalwood shaving cream
Geo.F.Trumper sandalwood SkinFood to finish.

Result BSS WTG

At last I've worked out the fatboy, that cap was throwing me off the sent,
Now I can see why punters fight like cat's and dog's over them on eBay that's one smooth razor... :icon_cheesygrin: thanks Dipesh.

Sorry no picture tonight SWMBOB gave me an ultimatum....either you help with the Christmas decorations/Christmas tree or my foot and your nuts will collide at speed.....I don't know if you've seen the film SHE...well that saying SWMBOB was used in it.:p

Hot shower
New forest
Tobs lime&lemon cream
Golden Rex 13/16 Japanese folding
Proraso pre/post
Tobs as shandawood

Amazing. I used proraso as post and it was fantastic. Also first shave my new razor was really really good.

Sunday

Prep: Hot Shower
Soap: Floris JF
Brush: Simpson Chubby 2 Best Badger
Razor: iKon Classic Open Comb
Blade: Personna Med Prep
A/S: Floris JF

Wonderful shave, I've not used this razor for a long time as last time I used it I got bitten by it. A bit more practice with other Open combs and it is much nicer now. I have tamed it. :)

SUNDAY EVENING

Gillette Aristocrat Jr 48
Permasharp (3)
Simpsons Chubby 1 in best
Arko stick - face lathered
Witch hazel
Bulldog AS balm

Hadn't shaved since Friday night, so my skin was nicely rested meaning a cracking result. Lovely!

Monday:

LEA Menthol cream
Semogur OC Boar
Streamline
GEM blade
Witch Hazel
TOBS Shaving Shop AS
DR Harris Arlington EdC

Nice enough shave. I sometimes find that when I switch from using DE to SE razors the first shave can be a bit rough while I get used to the change. BBS results this morning but with a couple of weepers.

Monday

Muhle R41
Gillette Platinum Swede Blade
Edwin Jagger Silvertip Brush
Dovo/Golddachs Shaving Soap
Thayer's Witch Hazel

Monday 3rd December 2012
Prep: Shower
Razor: Schick G8
Blade: Personna Stainless Coated
Brush: Vulfix 404 Mixed
Soap: Tweex Stick pressed into a container
Aftershave: Nivea Sensitive Balm

A really nice shave both in terms of comfort and closeness.

Regards
Dick.

After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:

vintage butterscotch Made Rite badger
'Webley'/Personna74 (NOS)
RL Safari SS (really nice stuff)
Old Spice Whitewater AS

Man, this is a blade I could be perfectly happy with using every day. About as sharp as a Feather but more forgiving. We'll see how many shaves this one lasts for.......I'm guessing 8-10 would be about right.

BBS results,

Martin
