Shane MacGowan

Since no one else has posted, RIP and all that. Absolute genius of a man.
I saw him with the Pogues at the Newcastle Mayfair in the mid 80s, a brilliant gig and I still to this day can't believe how much drink he got through on stage, didn't think hed make the decade out. Wonderful songwriter and singer...
I had posted a remembrance to him yesterday on "what are you listening to"
I saw him/Pouges in 80's Elvis Costello was managing them. He was a great song writer and a troubled fella

Has it been 35 years? Good grief.
I saw Shane MacGowan and the Pogues in 1988 at the Pinkpop festival in Holland.
(The Pogues, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sinéad O'Connor, Aswad, Joe Cocker (who surprisingly - for my young self - was the best act) and others - what a memorable concert)
Back then nobody thought he'd make it for another 35 years. Luckily he did.
I remember there was a rumour before the concert that the Pogues would play without him as he allegedly had been so drunk that he had fallen off the stage and broken something the previous day. Seemed totally plausible at the time.
What a great artist. Sadly missed. Rum, sodomy and the lash - straight onto my playlist again.
