I do like Michell's Wool Fat, but because I have far too many soaps and creams on the go, the MWF only gets an occasional use when it's up for rotation.
I reckon I'm down to 20% left from the original puck and found that it's dried out and has broken into a few pieces. Although it's still usable, the pieces tend to run around the dish when loading the brush, so I had the "great" idea of grating it up and compacting it down into the dish again.
So far so good.
This morning I took it out for a test run. I left a bit of water sitting on the top while I showered. When I loaded my brush (fairly stiff backbone of an Omega) I found it kind of broke up again into tiny balls and hadn't dissolved like I thought it would.
The shave was ok and the lather acceptable but the tiny balls didn't dissolve completely into the lather, even after quite a bit of whipping in a bowl.
So my question is; has anyone successfully salvaged MWF by grating it back into the dish and if so any tips? Should I let it dry out a bit or let it sit a bit wet to "set".
Or is it too much hassle and I should go buy another puck?
