S.O.T.D w/c Saturday 27th - Friday 2nd August 2013

Saturday xxvii July, 2013

Prep: Hot shower, Arran Arromatics Peppermint & Eucalyptus Soap
Pre: Cold Water Splash
Brush: Frank Shaving Pur-Tech Synthetic
Soap: Old Colonial Sandalwood, Tobacco & Lime
Razor: Digress HD
Blade: Astra Platinum Superior #1
Post: Thayers Medicated WH, Institut Karité

Result: Excellent shave. First spin with the FS Synthetic and it's a big old unit. Very soft tips and lathers well. Soap eater, though.

Sunday xxviii July, 2013

Prep: Hot shower, Arran Arromatics Peppermint & Eucalyptus Soap
Pre: Cold Water Splash
Brush: Frank Shaving Pur-Tech Synthetic
Soap: Irisch Moss Stick
Razor: Digress HD
Blade: Astra Platinum Superior #2
Post: Osma Alum, Thayers Medicated WH, Institut Karité

Result: Panic as I thought I'd lost my Irisch Moos stick, but a frantic check in all my storage places eventually found it. Worked well in tandem with Frank's monster synthetic brush. All good again, save from a couple of little weepers which the alum sorted out.

Monday xxix July, 2013

Prep: Hot shower, Arran Arromatics Peppermint & Eucalyptus Soap
Pre: Cold Water Splash
Brush: Neep Custom '67 Threepenny Bit
Cream: Proraso Red Tube
Razor: Digress HD
Blade: Astra Platinum Superior # 3
Post: Thayers Medicated WH, Institut Karité

Result: Nice and quick this morning as needed to get on the road double quick, so out with the cream. Two passes on a fairly aggressive setting and a final touch up lower down the scale and we were done. Most agreeable.

That's me up to date. Have a good day, gents.

Jon

Sunday

prep : Clinique face soap and scruff
Razor : Feather Popular
Blade : Timor
Brush : Simpsons Commodre X2
Soap : Proraso Green tub
Splash : proraso

Picked my new Simpsons up from the PO on Saturday and really looking forward to using it. Shave went horribly wrong on the 2nd pass as I nicked a small lump I have on my cheek, something I haven't done for months - blood everywhere, shave abandoned. Hopefully a bit more luck for tonights shave. :icon_cry2:

Bulldog for men facewash.
TOBS super badger brush.
Nanny's Rose geranium shaving soap.
Muhle R89 with Personna red #3.
Neals Yard aftershave balm.
James Bronnley for men EDT.

Nice shave today. Have a new Simpsons' Commodore brush on the way from Nkdman to replace the above TOBS/Vulfix brush, that after many years of service is starting to shed in clumps !

SOTD: Monday
Soap: some really good stuff
Brush: An old favourite extra dense silvertip
Razor: Bone, steel and a flower
A/S: A proper measure of temperature (I told you I was a traditionalist)

This morning:

Prep: Cold rinse
Razor: Dovo Flowing, 6/8"
Brush: Neep #1059 soapstone chubby 26mm super silvertip
Soap: Provence Sante verlaine

Cold shower
Provence Sante SS, used as a shave stick
Muehle synthetic
Weber w/Astra SS
Myrsol Lemon
Institut Karite ASB

Not entirely French, but Provence Sante and Institut Karite were at the core of it. Nice smooth shave, although not too keen on this Astra SS - SP feels smoother.

Prep: Cold Shower
Soap: Proraso (Sensitive, White Tub)
Razor: Merkur 1904
Blade: Treet Platinum
Brush: Omega 83 Professional Bristle
Post: Thayers Witch Hazel/ Nivea Anti Irritation Balm

Pretty cool fresh shave this morning!! Having heard poor reviews of the Treet blades I have to say I have found them pretty good myself.

Afternoon, everybody.

Monday:

Razor: Rimei aka Silver Tone aka Sodial
Blade: Personna Lab Blue (3)
Brush: Ecotools kabuki
Shave cream: Erasmic

Birthday Shave today.

Prep: Hot shower, aloe vera soap.
Brush: Big Ol' Omega 20102
Soap: Trumpers Coconut
Razor: EJ89
Blade: Rapira Swedish Supersteel (3 or 4, can't remember), single shim.
Post: Cold splash, witch hazel, Floid Vigoroso.

Absolutely perfect shave today. The brush is a beast, and lathered the Trumpers up very very well. First use of this soap and my face feels great, needed no post shave really, more out of habit I applied some. I can't describe the Floid scent, but all I know is I like it a lot.

Anyway, all smooth, soft, and presentable for a nice meal out tonight.

:)

MRGLO
Merkur 41C + Daz handle
Personna Platinum (1)
Irisch Moos Cream
Reddit Brush
Superdrug Forest Fresh A/S

Another good shave. The Irisch Moos is really great. The 41C is incredibly mild, but the handle is top notch!
