Post: Thayer's witch hazel with 444 menthol, followed by Village Barber balm
This 'cream' was meant to be a soap, but batch #1 had an excess of glycerin which made it softer than a cream (future batches were fine). Not a problem for this horse-hair brush. Whipped up a lush yogurty lather with a little extra effort. Fabulous 3-pass BBS from the Ikon SB which I haven't used in a long while since it's right at the limit for what my face will tolerate.

Formerly given the moniker Lidless Little Lather Catcher due to its patent date of 24th March 1914 and similarity with the Little Lather Catcher of the same year, I found a picture of the GEM equivalent box which was referred to as the 'Test Outfit' ... "GEM Safety Razor with that marvelous Double Life Blade", the direct equivalent of this Star, boxed as "Star Safety Razor with that marvelous Cru-Steel Blade".

So, 'Test Outfit' it is!

Super shave! One I regarded as a little mild upon first use, but I've found my groove with this one ... I'll follow on with the GEM equivalent next shave.

Smashing shave, that!

Double II, basically a Trac II, but twice. Moreover, the correct shave angle is readily achieved by simply following the shape of the head which is contoured just right and much akin to their double edge razor:

The Double II is a good razor. I enjoyed my usages with it as well.
