RE: S.O.T.D. Saturday 30th August to Friday 5th August 2014

Prep: Hot shower
Pre: Proraso pre-shave - sensitive
Soap: Grandstaff Illipe / Cocoa butter
Bowl: Woodhead Pedestal
Brush: Omega boar 10005
Razor: Gem Junior SE
Blade: Gem SE (1)
After: Speick Active AS, C&E Sandalwood ASB

I can't find my favourite soap; every time I try one it's my favourite! This Grandstaff is brill.
First time using a SE razor. I thought it would be tricky but in fact it was a piece of cake. Very easy to find the angle and it gave a comfortable very close shave; I'm really impressed. Now I understand why people rave about SEs. Used Alum to check if I'd gone too close but no stinging at all.
Loving the Speick AS (new acquisition) fresh scent and good conditioning.

BBS result. Have a great weekend folks.

Stahly Head on JEC handle
Gillette Silver Blue (3)
Noxzema (applied between passes)
Old Spice Soap
Vie Long Badger/Horse
Prof. Blighty's Coal Tar balm

Despite my previous doubts, I think the Noxzema is actually making a bit of difference to the shaves. But I think it's quite a lot of faff for almost negligible improvement.

I'm getting gradually more addicted to the Prof's Coal Tar - very different.

Warm shower
Hot flannel
Stroppe Shoppe London Morning bowl lathered
HMW Badger brush made by myself
Gillette Tech (Aluminium ball end handle and guard plate 1953)
Feather (1)
Cold rinse
Thayers Lemon witch hazel
Myrsol F/Extra aftershave

RE: S.O.T.D. Saturday 30th August to Friday 5th August 2014

After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:

vintage butterscotch rebranded Simpsons best
'Webly'/Feather
DR Harris Marlborough SC
Caron Yatagan AS (original 1970s version)
Caron 'Yatagan' pour Monsieur ( 1970s juice)

Popped a Feather in the Webly and hadda tremendous shave. This head's heavy and it muffles the whisker whacking sound lots more than a Tech. Helps smooth out the majority of small vibrations in the shave too, at least for me. The heavy handle does it's part too. Liking zero feedback as I do, the silence and lack of any resistance during the shave is my meat. Great blade in this set up.

The cream performed well....usta be in my rotation years ago. The scent is what Cade tries to be but isn't, but that's just me. Nice and dry woody fragrance.

BBS results,

Martin

If that is your first SE fancontroller stop there. The Gem Junior Bar is the king of SE's IMHO and I've pretty much every SE there is..
