S.O.T.D. Saturday 21st March to Friday 27th March 2015

Prep: Hot shower and vosene soak.
Soap: Sterling Ben Franklin.
Brush: The Grooming Co. synthetic badger.
Razor 1: King Cutter 5/8 square point.
Razor 2: Edwin Jagger DE89.
Blade: Rapira Platinum Lux #2.
Post: Marks & Spencer's Woodspice splash.

Nice 3 pass shave with touch ups from the EJ89. First time I have done almost a complete ATG pass with a straight razor, including upper lip. The only part I didn't do was my jawline, still need some practice, but I am getting there albeit slowly.

Nice and smooth today with as close to BBS as I have gotten in a long while.

Have a good day folks.

Filarmonica 14 Especial 8/8 half hollow
Kanayama Cordovan #8000
Bill Jack Chubby 1.5 custom two band in Lignum Vitae
MDC Fougere
Alum
L'Occitane Cedre & Oranger balm
L'Occitane Cedre & Oranger Edt.

Valobra Stick
Edwin Jagger XL Synthetic
ATT R1 Kronos
Perma-Sharp Super (5)
Proraso ASB Eucalyptus & Menthol

My first outing with the EJ Synthetic today and am very impressed. Loads hard soap easily and makes boatloads of rich lather in a jiffy.

From what I recollect, the Slim and Super shaved me about the same at the same settings. You might have got a razor from a run that was just a little different in some way. Or I could be wrong about everything and you are right.

In general, all the adjustable Gillettes cranked all the way up are gonna feel like maybe a 2 or 2.5 on a Progress.

You're making me want to get a Progress :D
Martin is on the money, the Fatboy loaned to me kindly by another member when dialled all the way up was mild compare to my SH Progress.

I thought it was the blade as I was using it with a Trig so swapped it to a Lab blue but it felt the same.

For me when I do pull the Progress every couple a month I dial it up to 3.5-4 , this works best with a mild blade like SuperMax Stainless.

An impressive array of equipment,

Those blades are cracking indeed! ( I have brush envy) :icon_razz:

Birthday shave today folks.

Birth year Gillette Slim adjustable in Rhodium with a Scottish Perma-sharp.
Xpec for something modern.
Semogue owners club 2 band.
Myrsol emulsion pre, Formula C after.
Steam Punk to finish it all of.

Second day of using my Gillette Black Beauty this week.
Good, solid shave. Granted it wasn't a spectacular shave or even an exciting shave - but it did result in a great clean-shave with no need for touch-up passes.
I still, for some reason, see it as more mild than the Slim.

Razor: Gillette Black Beauty, gold plated
Blade: Rapira
Brush: L'Occitane Plisson
Soap: Arko in vintage tin tube
A/S: The Veg

Superb lather, face for a change, from the Nanny's. GEM style handle gave lovely feel to the Tech. Blade felt a little dull, not one of my favorites, but job done and ready for work tomorrow.

Wow Lee, that is a good shot of your baseball handle.
What are its dimensions? How's the grip especially around the neck where your thumb and index finger go?

These are fresh off the lathe today....
82mm long, about 16mm at its widest, weighs 80g.
Its brother is 10mm longer and weighs in at 102g.
(This one was made for a member to use on a lather catcher, but it was a little longer than he wanted - I think, as he hasn't got back to me.)
At their narrowest, they are approx 10mm

I love the feel of them, even though they are highly polished the grip is very good. Thumb and finger feel very at home around their necks...
