S.O.T.D. Saturday 21st March to Friday 27th March 2015

Sunday

Afternoon, gents.

Prep: Claus Porto's Lime-oil face soap
Razor: Yuma
Blade: Super Max Blue Diamond (2)
Brush: Kabuki Bamboo
Shave soap: Wickham's Sheridan
Aftershave: Pashana Bay Rum
Cologne: Rive Gauche Intense

I slipped and nicked my top lip - plenty of blood and a real sting from the styptic pencil which I haven't used in yonks. Otherwise a splendid BBS.

... might copy that idea with my fencing whites ... well, fencing yellows :D

Damn it! Last Tuesday when fencing I had the same idea, obviously I have a terrible memory. Know what you mean about yellow, I always wash mine in cold water within a few hours of fencing but my mask...:icon_eek:

After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:

1964 Macys rebranded silvertip flopmeister fine for creams
1958 Executive/Wilkinson Light Brigade
Coates rose sc (older version)
Myrsol Emulsion
Aramas 'Havana' EdT (old juice)

Nice using this razor again which is still a favorite of mine, even though I use the Webly more. Shaves like a Fatboy but a little better in my hand because of the more aggressive handle knurling also found on the Toggle. Plus, I do like gold razors and the plating's held up pretty well over the many 100s of uses.

BBS results,

Martin

Razor: ATT Atlas R1
Blade: Feather (1)

Lavender Ylang Ylang from Shannon's Soaps is very nice indeed.

Had to bring out the fresh lively rich green sophistication that is Green Irish Tweed!

Prep: Body Shop maca root face scrub
Shaving cream: Vicco turmeric shaving cream
Brush: Edwin Jagger Chatsworth ebony synthetic bristle
Blade: GEM single edge
Razor: Ever Ready G bar
Post: Boots fresh wood ASB

I'm not sure if the cream is more like a soft soap or if it has dried out a bit, but not a bad shave. It's going to need a bit of experimentation to get it right.

Another razor I picked up on Fleabay for less than a tenner.

It actually went through two auctions where I forgot to bid and I picked it up on the third one!

As can be seen it looks a bit worse for wear. The blade is a bit scratched and there are some marks.

But, I don't think it has ever been honed. I honed it today and it took a fantastic edge and gave me a lovely shave.

So, even though it's not a minter I feel sort of proud that a razor which I suspect has never been used and has been neglected for decades is now being used for the purpose for which it was intended.

You've gotta love this shaving malarkey!

Monday 23rd March

pre wash. Neutrogena Glycerine soap
Victoria P/B brush
La Toja Cream
ER Streamline
Gem S/S [ 1 ]
Alum Rub/Rinse off
Nivea A/S Balm
La Toja A/S Lotion.

Taming blade for Birthday of 1914 tomorrow ! 1914 now loaded to go.

I like the weight of this razor, which seems to give me as near to BBS, as I will ever get.
Perplexed, that it is not to well liked by some fellow SE shavers.
