Saturday

Morning, gents.

Prep: Claus Porto's Lime-oil face soap
Razor: EJDE89
Blade: Super Gillette Blue (1)/ Super Max SS
Brush: Ecotools Kabuki
Shave soap: Mon Savon
Aftershave: Pashana Bay Rum
Cologne: L'Essence de Cerruti

Ow, ow, ow! The Super Gillette Blues were very rough and tuggy. Had to swap out in the middle of the shave for the far superior Super Max. My wisdom was rewarded with an unexpected BBS. Balance is restored.

Beejay, my prep is a shower, does the hot towel really work? And what's the prep? What's the time factor like oIn comparison to a 10-15 shower.. Busy work life unfortunately...

I don't consider my shower as part of the prep really.
The hot towel, which I apply 4-5 times for about 30 secs each time, warms the face and pops the grain (hair) and makes it ready for a warm lather.
I usually have 3 passes with touch up.
Time usually around 15 minutes, not including shower, but I take it easy. I see my shave as a pampering session to be enjoyed, more than morning chore.

Hot shower
Hot flannel
Tabac stick grated scuttle lathered
Simpson P8 LE 140/200 best badger
Gillette NEW Deluxe
Gillette 7 o'clock super stainless (3)
Cold rinse
Thayers Lavender witch hazel
Aqua Velva Musk aftershave

Decent shave, the blade was tired by the end of the shave. A different razor and fresh blade set up for tomorrow.

After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:

vintage amber Maid Rite #74 badger
1958 Executive/Schick Plus Platinum (NOS)
The Soap Opera Himalaya SS
Barbershop Bay Rum AS
more Barbershop Bay Rum splashed around like cologne

Can't remember the last time I used this previous go to razor. Man, I never thought anything would beat this thing, but I did find something after all.

Heh, the handle seems so dinky but the razor still performs great. Nice getting this thing wet once again.

BBS results,

Martin

Sounds good, thanks for that. And a pampering experience I'm looking for. Sunday especially..

Cold water splash
Valobra Stick (grated)
Simpson Commodore X3
Weber Polished / Bulldog
Gillette 7 O'Clock Black (5)
Speick ASB

Fifth shave for the 7 O'Clock Black. Held up remarkably well and could probably handle a 6th shave as it's still sharp and smooth, but to be on the safe side I'll load up a new blade tomorrow anyway.

Shower
Myrsol Emulsion (used as pre-shave)
Speick cream
Simpsons Colonel
iKon open comb with Voshkod blade
Speick balm

The blade sliced through my stubble like is wasn't there! I don't know if this blade (first use) was so sharp it wiped out the stubble or if the Emulsion is an absolute marvel but tomorrow I'm going to apply the emulsion to just half my face to check. With the £25 Castle Forbes Pre-shave I did not notice much difference so since then I've been dubious as the the advantage of a pre-shave. I shall find out tommorrow...
