Well, now I remember why the need for such deliberation... I'm a fussy git.
The Salter creams arrived this morning, to my nose the sandalwood smells of nothing but cinnamon, pass. The rose is a fairly pleasant scent, nothing to write home about but pleasant... Unfortunately its marred by what I can only assume is the cream base scent, it smells like Savlon to me... So, rose Savlon it is.
I had to use double the usual amount to generate a good lather, we're talking walnut rather than almond size here... And that was just enough to generate 2 passes worth of lather (I do have very hard water so that may be the culprit.)
In use the slickness and protection were seemingly very good, the scent developed for the better once on the face with the rose overpowering the Savlon.
Post shave was OK, slightly on the dry side. I did have quite a lot of irritation on my neck which one does not expect after using a Gillette Tech... Perhaps its not as protective as first thought?
So, a bit of a damning review from me I'm afraid. If you're interested in trying some Salter creams keep your eyes on the BST as these will be making their way there this afternoon.
