I was very shocked and genuinely saddened when I heard this this morning. It's funny how people you never actually meet can have an impact on you. Sad news indeed.
I went along to his chat show once in the '80s. He came out and had a chat with the audience beforehand which was a nice gesture and something he didn't have to do. A genuinely nice chap who will be missed.
I always thought when I was younger that he was 'money for old rope'. As I got older though I realised that it only looked effortless because he was so good at it, be it telly or radio. For me though, my personal Tel highlight will always be his Eurovision commentaries - classic.
Just watched the The One Show tribute to Terry on BBC 1. Not embarrassed to say the tears were welling up a few times. Strange he's not going to be around anymore.
