R.I.P. Dennis Waterman.

Sad news. An instantly recognisable face from the best years of British TV.
I have vivid memories every week trying to persuade my parents to let me stay up and watch The Sweeney when I had school next day.
 
Gutted to hear this. Used to love the Sweeney and Minder. I actually worked in the place where "the Winchester Club" was filmed (interior studio only, not the outside view). Was actually an office on the first floor in a studio at the bottom of an alleyway from Willesden Station, not a cellar bar in real life! I used to hate working late and having to walk up that alley to the train in the dark, always used to wish I had Dennis as my minder, was a nasty alley and Willesden Jcn is dodge at the best of times. They had a plaque on the wall in the office about it being the set for Minder. "VAT on the slate please Dave and Terry's still looking for a sub". At least it wasn't a 5 gallon can of a claret from Japan! My grandpa had one of those Rovers the Sweeney used to drive.

Damn. Rest easy 'Tel'.
