Windmills on the Zaanse Schans, as seen from the bridge over the Zaan river.

Aaah, grew up there not been back since I took up photography and am definitely looking forward to it!

warm and muggy today, took the dog out on to the football pitches we have and sat down to watch her run about, 40 mins in something swooped in and landed on the top bar looking like a starling then jumped down, clinged onto the post and had quick nibble on all the insects about.

Not a 'great' shot as such, just one that made me once again be happy that i took my camera, 'just in case'. Took 4 shots in the 10 sec slot i had , this is the best one

Greater spotted Woodpecker. Lovely to see.

It's Pegasus Bridge, site of the first glider landings of D Day, 6 June 1944. It crosses the Caen Canal.

The aircraft is a restored De Havilland Dove.

Just needed to increase the shutter speed and I would have got the wings of this busy little creature frozen in flight properly.
