Had my first go with a cheapy shavette from ebay to try out this straight razoring and my god I wish I did not bother. My face is freaking killing me, sore and more cuts than Edward Scissor hands could get shaving when pished.

I think the soreness is due to not wet shaving for years and using an electric and as for the cuts, well its not being careful enough. I don't think I will try it again for at least a week for the cuts to heal. Must say though it is a very close shave.

I might just bin it on reflection.

I think a shavette is the worst thing you could have tried, after using an electric razor for years.

Build up gradually to a straight if that is the way you want to go, but take the inbetween steps first, start with a mild safety razor, like a Wilkinson Sword Classic for instance, and then take it from there.

Exceeding wise words from Prof B ! And my personal experience was that a straight was way easier to learn than a shavette. I finished up just throwing mine away.
