Intro, long time “cart” user and mostly beardo for the past 4 years. Decided to go clean shaven for several reasons:
1. Seeming ubiquity of the beard
2. The grey has spread
3. Looking back at photos of my male family members from the 70s
4. Decided to polish up my image post Covid after spending the last 18 months wearing gym clothes below the waist
5. I turned 40
This time, after a shave with a Philips one blade (boring) and a Mach 3 (painful), I decided to dust off the DE razor from the back of the bathroom cabinet.
After many failed attempts in the past (huge irritation issues) this time I stuck to the basics; Edwin Jagger DE86, Astra superior platinum and some TOBS sandlewood cream and a badger brush (all several years old…) shaved wtg/xtg and now at several shaves deep, I’m getting no irritation and just the odd nick.
i have joined as my technique is very amateur and I would very much like to improve, both technique and set up.
I will declare it now; my ultimate aim is to learn to use a straight razor!
