Lions Tour

pretty good game so far, and a pure rugby fest today! I have been up since 5am this morning watching rugby and need to find fifteen minutes to fit in a shave.
Think the lions will take this game and have another couple of tries in them yet.

Very good game of rugby, fair enjoyed that and I hope the rest of todays games are as good.

One thing though, young Farrell is going to have to stop his petulance and stupidity. I hope is pop has a word with him. He had a pretty decent game today with some good line breaks and some very good defensive work. His biggest problem is his maturity, or lack of it. I know he is still a young guy, but you really don't want to be upsetting people who outweigh you by 4 or 5 stone just for the fun of it. Been there done that, got the broken nose to prove it. I know it is pretty innocuous, but patting the hooker (Hanson I think) on the head at a ruck a minute from the end of the game will eventually lead to a sledge hammer sized fist in the face with 18 stone behind it. Not a good idea at all and If he keeps it up he will have to learn the hard way. If he cut out that nonsense he would be a much better player

I hope I'm not breaking any rules here, but what the hell after all George North is my love Child. http://www.wiziwig.tv/competition.php?part=sports&discipline=rugby

Jamie.

Going back to the tour, if you pretty much want to see the full British & Ireland test team then It will pretty much be on show a week before the first test, barring two or three players. Here's my lineup for the first test.

15 Halfpenny
14 North
13 O'Driscoll
12 Roberts
11 Cuthbert
10 Sexton
9 Phillps
8 Heaslip
7 Warburton
6 O'Brian
5 O'Connell
4 Wyn Jones
3?????????
2 Hibbard
1 Jones

I bet the Aussies wish they had Halfpenny in their side, when Adam Jones went off the front row went drastically down hill, they won and that's all that counts, disappointing amount of penalties they gave away, lovely try from Cuthbert great angle of running, I hope Roberts is fit for next week even though I like John Davies I still think number 12 is a specialist position and nobody plays that role better than Roberts gives the forwards a target and gets you over the gain line everytime.

Lions were lucky to get away with that one IMO, but sometimes you need a bit of luck to get the win. They gave away too many needless penalties and if Beale had brought the right shoes The Lions would have been in trouble. But in saying that, we missed some too.
Some bad injuries in the first half on the Aussie side too and having to play people out of position, but then that was due to Lions tackling and defensive work. I was a bit fearful after the Brumbies game but they were certainly well up for it in the first half and scored a couple of excellent tries. Aussies aregoing to be missing a couple of very good players in the next test, hopefully we can capitalise on it.

Halfpenny cleans the bottom of his standing boot before every pen, Beale take note. Lucky to get away with that.

On a slightly different note.

Scotland were lucky to come away with a win against Italy there as well, Strokosch with a superb try with the last play of the game, Laidlaw held his nerve to slot the conversion and take the win by a single point!
Parisse is a very lucky boy to have stayed on the pitch as well, going over the top of the ruck with a big boot and kicking Laidlaw in the head. Can't make my mind up whether he meant it or if he was really going for the ball, not but he's not a typically dirty player so I might have to give him the benefit of the doubt

Nothing to add content wise Tony, but I wanted to mention your tasteful avatar of mourning or tribute or both. Not bad.
