Hi Guys,

It's my 40th next month and my wife's been asking for ideas... I have absolutely none!!

Can anyone come up with anything?

I don't really know what she wants to spend either. I considered a watch.. I already have a couple of nice watches tho.. Nothing really expensive, but a couple of Christopher Wards worth a few bob each.

I don't wear jewellery.

I'm into Hot Rods, classic cars (I don't own one tho), Motorcycles (I do own one of those), anything with an engine or automotive,Tattoos, shaving.

I did consider maybe a commemorative tattoo, but i already have both sleeves done and dont really want to be going elsewhere with them.

Thanks.

An Epiphone Casino guitar in sunburst finish!
If you don't play...it's worth learning for one of these...

Nice, but how about Surf Green Telecaster?

Cheers guys, had an old Pacifica a few years ago, but Carpel Tunnel Syndrome and tiny Sausage fingers put pay to that!!

I'm a bit of a sunburst fan myself... but I could go for a butterscotch tele... as long as it had a maple board.

Sorry to hear about the Carpal tunnel syndrome, Madddog.... although I think you could work around the sausage fingers.
On the positive side... inability to play the guitar frees up your funds for all kinds of other stuff... but that doesn't help your original question.

Or... the Casino looks so good you could buy one just to look at!

My wife took me for an unexpected weekend away to Cheltenham (where I lived when we met) and an afternoon of clay pigeon shooting. A lovely surprise.

I took my wife for a couple of nights at the Greenway just outside Cheltenham for her 40th. Went in to Cheltenham for lunch at a 2* Michelin restaurant. Had a great time and she felt spoilt rotten.

Can't beat a couple of nights away on your own, with no distractions.

Sometimes the experience lingers longer than some physical objects.

How about a nice pen, maybe Montblanc, to mark the big day?

We also like to do a weekend in Mayfair and book up a decent restaurant to spoil ourselves. TF & H, TOBS etc are all close by. I really enjoy staying at the Grosvenor.

Cheers gents, some great ideas there. I've done the trackday thing a few times before. My wife booked me a forrest rally day in an old MK2 escort for our 2nd Valentines day. Was excellent..

For her birthday this year I took my wife for a couple of nights in the Holiday Inn in Windsor with a meal at the The Hinds Head Bray - One of Hestons, tried to get in the Fat Duck, but was booked solid.

I spent my 40th atop a hill in Wales photographing low-flying aircraft. Great weather, great light, but very few aircraft, but it was still very enjoyable :)
