How to download web mail emails to ThunderBird?

I have recently installed ThunderBird on my laptop to handle emails. It works 100% BUT only downloads emails from my web mail 'inbox'. I have several filters in place on my web mail which sorts emails into various folders, indeed. TSR is one of them. Thunderbird doesn't touch these. How to I get ThunderBird to recognise & download my subfolders in addition to my main inbox?

Many thanks, have subsequently discovered that a POP configuration will only allow the 'inbox' to be read. You need an IMAP configuration for it to read all your subfolders too...

That's right! Take all the filters out of your webmail and then educate Thunderbird.
