I felt pretty comfortable after about a week but still plenty to learn. I no longer think I will cut myself every time. Once I got the feel of the blade (feather) I felt more comfortable and less nervous. Like others on this excellent forum have commented it's the "ritual" of it. Practice makes perfect.

Hi, welcome to the forum.

It took me aboput 4 weeks to get comfortable with a DE razor, think it would take me a lot longer with a straight, but I haven't started down that road yet, and am not really sure whether or not if I ever will.

Straight razor just seems like an accident waiting to happen with me.
