So my very expensive Alum block decided to fall apart for no apparent breason - it had not been dropped. As non of the pieces was big enough to bother salvaging I took a leaf out of someone's book who posted that he mixed alum with water in a spray bottle. However, I did something a bit different as I had about a quarter bottle of GFT skin food, so crushed some of the alum and added it to the bottle and made it up to about half a bottle with water.
After shaking and leaving overnight some of the pieces are still evident but I used it today and it was certainly quite pleasant as a combined balm and moisturiser.
I suspect it may be more appropriate for warmer days but I'll hold on to it.
