just spotted a new section on Neil Millers web site <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.strop-shop.co.uk/category/Gillette_Fat_Boy_and_Slim_Adjustable_Safety_Razors,b.html">http://www.strop-shop.co.uk/category/Gi ... ors,b.html</a><!-- m -->

Bloomin' eck!

To be fair, they look nice examples and have been nicely restored, but it makes me think how much I could get for mine :eek: Not that I'm thinking of giving mine up at any point soon.

I think they're pretty fair prices for nice examples, they are retail after all. You could get one for far less if you are lucky enough to find one at a car boot or maybe on the bay, but these are restored and cleaned, and as I say, retail price. You pays your money, you takes your choice. They're not common in Europe still.

The days of a mint fatboy at £30 on the bay are long gone. These things will only appreciate from now on. Grab one while you can, and if like Pompey Bill you already have one, then hang on to it.

I got mine, in not bad condition, about three years ago for £15 from an American vendor. Have since cleaned it up, and keep it clean, shaving with it daily. Probably the best bargain I've ever had since I started DE shaving, just a fantastic razor.

I've said this before, the price of vintage Gillettes have gone up quite a bit in the last few months, and I think it's a trend that's not going to go down.
As was mentioned on another thread where a boxed mint fatboy with outer cardboard went for 200+ quid, these prices seem relatively good.

I don't think Neil is aiming at people from TSR, or other forums as potential customers, as most of us get our stuff off eBay, or from the BST section.
These are more aimed at those that are less knowledgable/passionate, and just want a good DE razor, without the fuss of joining a forum etc...
I'm pretty sure these will sell quite quickly, but probably not to anyone on here.

Max

p.s. they do look nice :p
