Supplied in copious amounts to Kriegsmarine aboard U-Boats during WW2, I suppose to those men living in cramped conditions without a wash for months on end this stuff must have smelt heavenly!

They even had a 4711 supply U-boat.

Any ideas on the best way to apply this stuff? I received a bottle today but at 86% alcohol, splashing it on my face is not a mistake I'll make again!

I just splash it into my palm and then apply it to my jawline & neck.. Works OK, can be a bit drying though.

I know, but the bottle doesn't come with an atomiser unfortunately.

I know some men only apply colognes to their chest area and/or wrists unless its a potentially romantic occasion, then a dab behind the ears doesn't hurt... That said, I can't imagine many women under 70 finding 4711 arousing!

Well, I use it as an aftershave and body splash. No negative effects.
