Begging letter ###My cup runneth over###

Having tried - and failed dismally - to find suitable plastic tubs on ebay, I come begging here.

Simple enough, I need tubs in which to put my hard soap pucks. So I'm begging and offering to buy (see BST thread) plastic tubs that are - well you know fine well what they look like! - shaving soap tubs - not necessarily old shaving soap tubs but tubs of similar proportions.

Morrisons do a round tub with clip on lid for 85p I use them for my soaps.

Hiya doin Carl,

Years ago I went through a soap puck container search and ended up using glass bowls instead of plastic to store em. I have both one and two cup sizes......mainly 2 cup versions since I like room to load up the brush.

Main reason I went with glass is I found the soap sticks to the bottom better and doesn't spin around when swirling the brush on it. I heat the bottom using boiling water and then press down hard on the puck. Works best on glass for sure.

One other thing is the glass bowls won't scratch or look faded after a while like plastic can. Plus, the weight of the glass is somehow more appealing.....more substantial feeling. Heh, I know how much you like to pamper yourself. You might think about buying some crystal bowls and having those initialed.

Something glass like the one I use, made by Anchor Hocking:

I've been looking for similar containers so I can standardize them all and ditch the dis-similar containers for easy stacking.
I'm drawn to the Ikea Grundtal containers but they're pricey.
I've also been looking for some plastic jars similar to the ones by Mama Bears soaps & Nancy Boy.
My previous thread discussing the same search: http://www.theshavingroom.co.uk/forum/thread-24199.html

Tins like this:

Or clear plastic jars like this:

Here's similar, but with a flat-top lid for better stacking.

Yay, first post, hope I can help out.

I bought a bunch of containers for this very purpose from B&M Homestores over the weekend. 3 plastic round containers, 200ml capacity with clip-on lids for 99p (also square ones available). They work a treat and are they perfect size for my soaps. Also microwave safe in case that matters. A rough estimate with ruler show that they are 3.5" / 8.5cm in diameter, 1.5" / 4cm tall.

Not allowed to post links, but search for "mini clip" and you'll find them on their website.

B&M also sell a set of 5 plastic containers for 99p with screw-on lid. They're a tad more flimsy and I reckon only suitable for smaller soaps. Bought them anyway but not tried them yet.

I know that you are sorted but as an FYI - another good place is Muji - i picked up some nice glass/ porcelain bowls with lids. All stack able and suitable for the microwave and dishwasher. (Microwave support is good as some hard soaps can be melted into the bowl):)

And the best bit they cost me around £2 a piece. (i though it was an absolute bargain)

They also do great plastic square boxes - if you are some one who has an aversion to round things. and great travel jars for taking soap/ creams shaving kit every where with you.

By the way i have no affiliation to muji other than holding a load of shares :) so go and help increase the value of my shares - Joke!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the tip - never heard of Muji before.. I searched "round bowl with lid" and got pages and pages of returns, including oak tables. Please give us a link to the bowls/dishes you bought. Thanks.

The Wilko tubs arrived and I don't like them for shaving soap and one clip of one lid doesn't work so I went looking again. Had given up in UK and was about to order in US when Doh! what sort of site am I looking at? and don't they have those in UK? Sharon might know! I believe I have it cracked at last!! (Thanks for the clues, Erik!)
