Antique blades of any use?

Just wondering if anyone on here re-uses Antique blades?

I.e. re-sharpen and sterilise.

My personal thought is to bin them, but with my recent purchases I have received a number of obviously used blades. This got me thinking that if they are being kept and passed on, someone 'must' be interested in owning them. They are:

Double Life Blue - Made in Britain.

I have 15 blades + 2 unopened ones.

I'm tempted to use the unopened ones and just bin the old ones, as they are of no use to me. Unless there are folks out there that do want them.

Many old, old blades will be all but unusable and frankly, I wouldn’t chance any unless you know their provenance. Vintage English-made Wilkinson Swords are generally excellent but like nowadays, there are a number of variations. Lots of fabulous old Gillette Blades but I’m thinking 60s, 70s onwards and I wouldn’t touch anything pre-war. That’s my personal choice though.

Give me carbon steel knives for my woodcarving any day but personally, I don’t fancy using carbon steel DE blades. Again, my choice and as ever, YMMV.
