Been getting superb shaves with a Valet VC2 with Feather blades for a wee while now, but the other night I decided to change my shave angle just as an experiment. I put the head almost parallel with my skin. The shave went silent and felt good. I was using wool Fat for the first time too. Its the best, richest,gliding lather I've achieved and this masked a big problem! I rinsed my face with cold water after the first pass and felt an all over sting. I should have stopped then, but continued using the same angle for 2 more passes. I finished with alum and thought my skin was on fire 
( The razor burn was terrible. Bright red blotchy skin that no amount of balm would ease. Lost the top layer of dry skin over the last 3 days. Shaved tonight using the same gear but the correct angle and all is well. I've found not watching the razor but listening to it gives the best result. No more experimenting for me!
